HOW TO CREATE A
SACRED 2024

IMG_3574.JPG

2024 has the potential to be your best year yet. The energy of the year is ripe with sparkly energy. In numerology (which I don't know too much about) 2024 is an 8 year... 2 + 0 + 2 + 4 = 8, which has the promise to be high in abundance. And while abundance in cash flow is always nice... so is abundance in love, friendships, work and other aspects of our lives.

We can change our lives whenever we want, but the new year is one of my favorite times to start afresh. So, let's get into the energy of new, of abundance and of possibility.

In order to take action on creating a sacred year, one that is ripe with opportunities, up levels and expansion, it's up to us to get clear on what we desire and how to magnetize it into our realm.

LET'S START WITH
THE BIG PICTURE...

THE 2024 VISION

To begin, let's look at the big picture of your life.

Grab your journal and answer these questions...

Reflecting on 2023...

What are you most proud of?

What went well?

What felt like a success?

What seemed to be recurring themes?

What got in your way?

Who did you love spending time with?

Who irritated you?

What were your biggest lessons?

How did you connect with your sacred side?

And thinking about 2024... (Don't get too caught up in answers, just write what comes to mind. We will get to practicality later.)

What energy do you want to bring in for 2024?

What is the sacred call for you this year?

What do you want more of?

What do you want less of?

What is your soul yearning for?

What’s the guiding energy of the year this year for you? Is it love? More passion? A promotion at work? Clarity in your business? Hiring a team (or a better team)? More friends? More creativity? More financial abundance? More romance? More connection with your kids? More sex? More vitality? More relaxing? More just loving your life?

While it might seem like it's not connected, the energy you crave for the next year is your sacred call. Your soul wants you to lean into it. It's not wrong to desire things. Your desires are holy. Trust the energy that's emerging from your mind, body and soul.

Whatever energy you want to create for 2024, set the stage now. If you want more romance, start romancing yourself with flowers, new underwear and solo dates. If you want to be more creative, start organizing a list of what inspires your creativity. If you want more health, clean out your pantry and get rid of the food not serving you.

Let's set your stage to feel ready for what's to come for you. This is a great time to brainstorm ideas. Write out all of your ideas.

Hop onto Pinterest and type in your theme for the year. For example, if you want to connect more with your partner, go to the search bar and type "date ideas."

THE VISION BOARD

After you have brainstormed the energy you want to focus on in 2024, let's start to get even more clarity. One of my favorite things to do in the new year is to make a digital vision board that I can look at it on my smart phone.

Here's how to easily do that:

• Go on Instagram, Pinterest and Google and type in the energy you desire to focus on for 2024.

• Screen shot anything that lights you up. Use the crop feature to cut out what you don't need.

• Take all of those images and load them into Canva (you can get a version of the Canva app for free!).

• Choose the Instagram Reel format and drag all of your images into the canvas.

• Move the images around and resize them until you are happy with the end result!

•Make the vision board your phone wallpaper, save it to your online journal (I like the Day One app, which also has a free vision), print it out, and be sure to connect into the energy of your vision board whenever you look at it.

(That's my vision board for last year. Some things came into fruition, some will stay on for next year... Riding from Venice to London on The Orient Express might be on there every year! That's a big one! But, notice all of the Italian/Mediterranean photos on there- and now we are moving there. Living in Italy was not on my mind when I created this, but being in the energy was.)

YOUR 2024 WORD + COLOR

If you could sum up your 2024 energy into a word or few words what would it be? For health, it could be "vitality." Or if you want to focus on more art, it could be "creative" or "creativity." Love and passion could be"sensual."  If you want to get fancy, you could put the word onto your vision board.

And, what color are you drawn to? This doesn't have to be complicated. My color every year is gold.

ON THE DAILY:
YOUR SACRED INFUSION...

Set your days up for connecting in with your sacred self. This gets to be fun and exactly what suits you. Every day tune into the energy of the year, so that you don't lose track of it. If the energy involves another human (like a friend, partner, child, employee or co-worker) remember to focus on your side of the street. You can't control anyone but yourself. Focus on how to bring your best self to the situation.

Grab your calendar and schedule out your next month in the vibes of your desire. Ready to manifest your new employee? Plan out some days you can start interviewing people or to create an onboarding checklist. Ready to call in more friends? Schedule some time to start figuring out how you might meet new people. Ready for vitality? Get your workouts, menus and shopping days in the calendar too.

I also recommend doing three intentional sacred pauses (or rituals) in the day, a morning, afternoon and evening one. But, you get to decide which ones are perfect for you.

The Morning Sacred Pause:

Be intentional about what you wear. Your clothes are a representation of your sacred self. If you aren’t wearing clothes that light you up, either go shopping, get connected with an online service or hire a stylist. (Also, department stores like Nordstrom have stylists on staff that can work with you).

Write your daily intention in your journal or calendar.

Get connected with the astrology for the day (The Magic of I has a fabulous digital calendar that you can upload to your smart phone).

Take 10 minutes to calibrate to the day with breath work, meditation or your favorite mindfulness activity.

Do an oracle card reading for the day. Find out what the spiritual realm wants you to know by connecting with your cards.

Connect with the energy of a goddess (see section below for ideas).

The Afternoon Sacred Pause:

Find 10 to 15 minutes to recalibrate your nervous system. This practice has created the most change in my life. I am a better person because of it. Grab your headphones, download a guided meditation and take 10 minutes to ground your mind, body and soul.

Take a walk and get connected with yourself. Put your phone away and enjoy the sounds around you.

Reconnect with your planner. This is a perfect time to get an idea of how your day has gone and what you might need to get done tomorrow.

Have a healthy snack. Choose something high in protein. A good snack can help with any glucose crashes- which usually results in craving wine and ice cream in the evening.

The Evening Sacred Pause:

End your day by creating a sensual routine. Wear the yummiest pjs.

Wash and moisturize your face with good, clean products.

If you are craving some grounding, spend 10 to 30 minutes in another mindfulness practice.

How to Set Boundaries for Your Sacred Pauses (and your life):

Boundaries are my favorite thing. In fact, I don't believe I can live a fully abundant life without them! Boundaries are powerful buffers between you and the world. They are expectations, personal policies and standards all rolled into one. Here are few things to consider creating boundaries:

Work:  What does your work schedule look and feel like? Are you known to be on your phone or your email after your expected work hours?  What kind of schedule do you keep? What are your personal policies around checking work email at home or on the weekends? What does your work expect from you?

Your phone:  In the morning, do you check your social media and email before even getting up to go to the bathroom? What about before you go to bed? Are you known to scroll Insta, Facebook and other social media apps way into the evening? Your smart phone is designed to be addicting. What did we do in our lives before having them? They are little personal assistants that we can carry around all day long.

And while these little devices are fabulous, they also can be rough on our mental health and our rest. We have underlying anxiety about the stuff we have ingested over the day, and often the lights and the hits of dopamine we experience through the social and news apps are creating more havoc than we realize.

When you set boundaries with your phone, your social media and your email... you powerfully take your abundance back. I am a big fan of the Do Not Disturb (DND) feature, and the App Limits feature on my iPhone. I have the DND feature set from 7PM to 8AM, where only people who are in my "Favorites" (my family members) can call me during those hours. Texts messages are silenced.  The App Limits feature I have set for the same time. This shuts down all of my social media apps and email so that I am required to hit "Ignore" if I want to get back on them. I love that I have to make a conscious decision to allow myself back on the app for an additional 15 minutes. It has been a great way for me to check in with myself before absentmindedly clicking into the app and getting stuck in a scroll that I just can't get out of.

People:  I love to set boundaries with people, and not in a mean or aggressive way at all.  My kids know when downtime is scheduled and my husband knows what works and what doesn't when it comes to my daily practices (and I know what works for him too). We are able to respect each other through those boundaries and expectations. We aren't perfect at this, but the intention is there.

Yourself:  Sometimes, the person who walks over your boundaries the most is your own self. If your higher self is telling you something isn't working, try to set boundaries around your practices and see if your outlook and life change.

GODDESS ENERGY

Tapping into Goddess energy can be a fun way to ignite your sacred side. I recommend you to tune into how you are feeling and to follow your intuition on what Goddess you are drawn to. You can then research the Goddess. Sometimes I spend a long time connecting with a Goddess. I buy books, oracle cards and jewelry to connect deeper with her. And, sometimes I just need to connect with a Goddess for a very short time. Sometimes you need the fiery energy of Kali and sometimes you need the gentleness of Kuan Yin. Trust your instincts on which one your soul desires to work with.
